If you register on our site,
you can post comments on images. Registration is free, just click on the
Register link on the top right of this page. Please do. We appreciate
your feedback and comments. There are many largely unidentified items that
could use your help with identification as well.
In order to offset the costs of this website, and to help ensure that it
stays active and healthy into the future, we have a paid membership
offering. If you are interested in having full (the highest) resolution
images from our site, this type of membership will give you that benefit.
There are two offerings: a monthly membership for $7.00 U.S. per month, or a
year membership for $70.00 U.S. Both memberships offer full and unlimited
access to the highest resolution images that we have. Memberships are
available for purchase through our Specialty Photographic store:
Our current size limit of 700 pixels is the largest size that we could
provide within the space confines of the website. And unfortunately, the
downsized 700 pixel images often don't do justice to the quality of the
full-resolution image. If you see an image with one dimension being 700
pixels (most are), there is most likely a larger, often much larger, version
of that image available. In order to provide the highest possible image
quality, we store and maintain the largest image size that we can find for
all images on our site. Becoming a paying member opens the benefit of
immediate and unlimited access to all full-resolution images in the gallery.
After logging in as a paid member, when an image is displayed, you can click
on the image which will in turn display the full-sized image. Alternatively,
the full-sized image can be selected from the drop-down box appearing next
to the image title. This drop-down box shows the image's pixel dimensions.
Once the image has been displayed, it can then be downloaded and saved to
your disk by right-clicking
on the image and choosing the "Save image as..." or "Save picture as..."
option from your browser.
NOTE: As a paid member, on larger images, say 4000 pixels or larger, we suggest that you use the
"Download full-sized photo in original format" link, found below the image on
the left side of the image column: right-click on this link, and then
choose "Save Link As..." or "Save Target As..." from your browser's pop-up
menu selections. You can then save the image directly without trying to
phycally display the image within the browser's display area. Displaying very
large images within the browser can cause various errors, but this alternate
image saving method will overcome these types of errors.
If you want to become a member, it's best to
register first, then make the payment for your choice of membership :
Membership. When you make the payment, include
your login Username with your payment information if possible, or send us your
Username after ordering by replying to your emailed receipt. I will then
add your user-id to the group of paid-members, giving you
full access. Since payment and
activation is a manual process, it generally takes 1-2 business days before your
membership gets activated. If you have any issues with this process,
contact us and
we'll get you fixed up ASAP.
If you have a location where we can find very high quality images to add
to our collection, please
and if we actually do use at least 5 images,
we'll give you a month's membership for free. And if we use more than 30 images
from your cache, we'll make it a year's free membership. We do appreciate
your hints and tips for finding new photo resources - and/or great photos that we've somehow missed
from sites that we already know about. Wikipedia Commons has such a vast collection
of images that it's quite a job to find the best images, and we know that there
are many, many more great images to be found there. BUT, we're very picky,
so don't feel bad if we aren't able to use the images!
